... never ??? What a pity, because it´s real a good tip for a beautiful “dive”-vacation !
Currently you get an individual and warm welcome on this lonng journey to lanta, the hotels and infrastructure is still growing, but this very very slowly - and this is good for you and Lanta island.
On Lanta you´ll find many many lonly beaches, but when you got south from the mainbeach "Klong Dhao" the beaches comes lonelier from beach to beach.
At the most popular Klond-Dhao Beach are many good small bungalows, which ae ranking from small budget until deluxe-class. Here you find the same atmosphere, that comparable wit the beaches of Samui at Chaweng 10 years ago !.
Even in the high-season from November to april mostly you get an accommondation also when you arrive, maybe it´s better for a prebooking in the christmas or new-years-season. Othwise it´s not a problem to get a room !
The dive-base are´nt located at the hotels, because they´ve been places all at their own jetty at the harbour, from there they start every day in the high-season with big and good lievabor-boats to day-trip with a min. of 2 dives a day. For beachdivers is Lanta the wrong choice, because the visability near the beach is only enough for educatin dives, so all dive-operator start to the famous dive spots in the andamanen sea and their you get the best dives in Thailand. Most divers know the famoust name like Hin Bida, Ko Dok Mai - this dive-spots you´ll find in every dive-travel-guide all over the the world.
The price-niveau is a little bit higher than on Phuket, because the hav`nt an own industry and everything (food, water...) must be delievered from the mainland by boat. But no panic - 40 Baht (1,- Euro) is not really a risk for your budget, isn´t it ?!?!
Our experience with a dive-operstour was the Ko Lanta Diving Center under german leadership, here we´ve collect really good impressions. The´ve a good service and the staff is very friendly

Diving with the Ko lanta diving center:
As we said above the dive-base is not diretly located at the idyllic Mainbeach, where you very likely will arrive at the 1st day. But that´s no problem, the base has it´s own transfer by motorbike and orgnized a pick up every morning and of course at the 1st dive-day incl. your own equipment.
In the “metropols” of Lanta - Saladan - you´ll find after a short 5-10 minutes trip the *ko lanta diving center* , as we´ve said directly at the jetty, fromthere they start the daytrips with really good and comfortable boats (no longtails !!), the boats are also able to finish a liveabourd trip. So they have an own kitchen where you get a great lunch between you both boat-dives !
The base is build very simple, but have all what you need for a safe and comfortable dive, you will miss nothing !

Yes, the dives and dive-spots are all “First Class”, do you like to dive in a glas-fish-soup or you like manty-ray or leopard-sharks ? Even Whale-Sharks you´ll find here much more as otherwise in Thailand. Dive-Spots like Hin Bida, Shark Point, Hin Mueng, Hin Daeng, King Cruiser, Ko Bida or Fantasy Rock will impress you much more than you think before - we don´t overegg - the journey to the dive spots takes a little bit longer - around 2 hours, but after this time you´ll be rewarded !!!
PS: Absolutely you must book a caneon dive where you make a short “stopover” at the surface in a beautiful cave - it´s really one of the higlights- this possibility you can get around the dive-spot “Ko HA” !!!
