The Tsunami at the end of 2004 is blame for it, that we arrived on this dreamlike island. So our primary booking was consequently destroyed and so: Here we are !! Details to our primary booking see Khao Lak.

But this is not so bad - quite the reverse - so we´ve had the eclusive honor to visit this dreamlike island. Sooner or later we would likely come to this island - well so due the tsunami now a little bit earlier ! Determining for the choice of this destination was, that the underwater-fauna was not affected by the tsnumi and everything was all right in and abouve the surface.
The island itself is only  5 qkm and belongs to the province Trang. Snow white palm beaches, green forest and imposingness rock-formations makes this island incomparable.

The normal journey takes place over the airport from Trang or alternate Krabi Airport and then connecting with a bus and boat in average 1-2 h to Koh Ngai - we´ve take in due of the primary booked flight to phuket the long winded way which takes arround 4 1/2 h from phuket airport.
Than from the mainland you get by boat from the jetty Pak Meng Pier to your island Koh Hai - also named Ko Ngai. This passage takes arround 40 minutes ans is not really expensive, because mostly you get the transfer by a small longtail boat (and of course get a little bit wet !!). If you want to get more comfort, you can also order the more expensive speed-boat fromt he Thapwarin-resort - it´s their own one !
So, when you´v e booked you resort by yourself, please ask the resort or the Rainbow Divers, that they organice your boat from and to Pak Meng Pier. We´ve paid oeway 700 Baht per longtailboat !

And now to our fantastic resort:

We´ve stayed overnight in the fabolous
www.thapwarin.com -Resort and this one is also located on the beautiful beachfront lik the other more famoust resort e.g. Fantasy Resort, here you´ve a breathtaking oulook to the offshore islands. From your Thapwarin resort you must walk along the beach ca. 20 minutes to the Fantasy Resort and the german dive-base www.rainbow-diver.com . Do you want to avoid this beautiful trip along the bach ? O.K. so the Rainbow Divers or the Thapwarin resort can organice a short transfer by boat or tractor to yor dive-base and of course at the first day takes your gear to the Rainbow Divers (here you can wash and store your equipment during your vacation).

The Thapwarin Resort has been builded  fortunately only in a few small bungalows, this bungalows are only very simple furnished with natural materials, but this looks very gallant and the location directly at the beach ist the biggest advantage of this resort.

The normal category differ from each other only in the position at the beach (1st, 2nd or 3rd row to the beach ) the cheapest Garden Bungalows cost ca. 1450 Baht, the Sea-View Cottages  ca 1650 Baht and the Beach Front Cottages ca. 1850 Baht - all this one are build in wood-style, have only cold water in the open-air-bath-room and a Fan (no A/C), - perfect for divers. The construction and the postion near the sea is much enough for good ventilation in the night - so we havn´t need the Fan during our whole stay. Furthermore the Fan is much to loud for the wonderful sound of the sea in the night...

You can´t resign an air condition ?? So you can book the bigger A/C Sea-Frontbungalows, this costs min. 3300 Baht here you´ve furthermore the best position at the beach and much more space in your room. PS: If you book the resort over the rainbow divers you can save arround 1000 Baht per night, this applies also for the more famous Fanatsy resort. All abouve prices included breakfast for 2 persons.

To sum up, i can say that the flair, the location and the service is one of the best, what i´ve ever seen. Here you get conditions like on the maldives but additional with a tropic vegetation - this island is really still a secret insider tip.
Nearly i´ve forgotten the beautiful thing that you´ll get every morning - the breakfast at the beach with a fantstic view on the water - it´s incredible - so beautiful!

Diving with the Rainbow Divers:

What awaits you under water ?? Basically we can say, the dives on our day trips was nearlly the same like on our stay on Koh Lanta, so anywhay Koh Ha, Koh Rok Nai, Koh Rok Nok, Hin Nok, Hin Daeng, Hin Muang.
But furthermore the  Rainbow Divers have a big advantage that they have in contrast to Lanta a nearby house-reef, that is only 5 minutes by longtail boat away. So you can decide if you want the long-haul daytrips with 2 dives or the reef dives near the island (mostly one in the morning and one in the afternoon). So if you don´t like to dive the whole day, this short dive-trips are the perfect combination for diving and relaxing - we love it !

The daytrips includes as usual a lunch after the 1st dive and starts around 8-9 am in the morning and you get back around 4 or 5 pm. By the way: Nitrox available !!!

The dive rates are really cheap, ca. 19 Euro for 1 dive from the beach, Nitrox-Dive additionally 3 Euro.

The baot-transfers will charged additionally - this depends to the distance to your dive-destiantion: Short-trips until 10 Minutes ca. 3 Euro, trips to 35 minutes ca. 6 Euro after that for day trips ca. 10 Euro - but this one includeds lunch.
The most expensive daytrip is to the famoust destiantion like Ko Ha =ca. 18 Euro or Hin Daeng or Hin Muang ca. 20 Euro. Please note that for Ko Rok you must pay a Nationalpark-fee 200 Baht = 4 Euro.

I think i must not explain and describe the different dive-sides, because the most are so famoust and really the best what you can find  in the andamansea.
The very friendly service at the Rainbow Divers roound down a perfect dive-holiday. PS: Your equipment will transported by the staff from your box to the boat and back  - really great.

If you´ve further questions don´t hesitate to contact Brigitte from the  www.rainbow-diver.com. She answer very fast and friendly and if you want to book  one of the abouve resorts - she organized all - we were xcited.
